When my brain is deep in photography mode — walking, driving, riding my bike — I'm looking for two things: big fields of color to flatten into a painterly form, and playful banality. Here I found both. This was by the old HEB on South Congress. I stopped to take a scouting photo — see how it looked, figure out the framing and what camera and lens to come back with. Got home. Liked the iPhone shot enough to live with it. Good thing too — this was gone within a few days. The recon shot ended up being the only shot. Also, it was Austin summer. I didn't really want to leave my house again.
